It’s a tough time to be a Labour supporter. After a decade in office, no party can expect an easy ride from the voters or the media. But we have a fantastic story to tell about what we’ve achieved for our communities and for the people who gave us three election victories in a row. So let’s spend the summer telling it like it is: more jobs, better schools and hospitals, more police on the streets and falling crime, and a huge range of improvements and achievements. The Tories shouldn't have abolished this free health check,ditto dental check-ups but at least the situation was equitable all over the UK(ie. no-one got one). Now, thanks to NuLabour if you live in Scotland you'll still get free eye tests whatever age you are(do they have worse eyesight than the rest of us or something?) ... and if you live in other parts of the UK you're probably indirectly paying extra tax for this unique Scottish privilege!

Blow the eye tests, Hazel. I want to know I can go into hospital and come out alive! I never doubted that until NuLab ran the health service.
After developing a pain in my chest and trouble breathing a few years ago, I spent 4-5 hours in A&E before being seen. I was told it was bronchitis and sent home with antibiotics.
A few days later, I woke up one night and couldn't get my breath at all and was in such pain. Went back to A&E and waited another 4-5 hours, then was examined and told I was ok to go. Thankfully, another doctor saw that I could hardly walk and examined me again. X-rayed and found to have pneumonia, was admitted, my lung drained and put on the right drugs for pneumonia.
My lung is permanently scarred now and would not have been so severely damaged if my pneumonia had been recognised.
Elderly people are dying in NHS for want of someone to feed them. Elderly people in England who are terminally ill and weeks from death are being forced to sell their homes to pay for their own health care. Yet in Scotland the elderly get free health care and treated with more respect.
How can you call yourself the Party of social justice while this is happening? How can you brag about your achievements when patients in England are denied cancer drugs which those in Scotland get routinely? And why IS this happening? To keep votes in Scotland. You should be ashamed.
I haven't even mentioned MRSA yet...
